I wonder if we have worked it out as they say, possible due to very low power and directionality, unless you have a good aerial, clean line and are on a N/E/S/W axis you'll struggle to get a signal?

Only need to find some on an oblique direction to confirm they can receive to blow the theory!

OK, let's put out a call for everyone in direct N,S,E or W of Blackhill, get up on your roof with a compass so we can find out why we can't get HD!

As they say, If something's worth doing, do it yourself!

Hope this is confirmed and I can have increased hope of HD by July

andrew1210: The high power HD mux begins on 22nd June 2011 on C40.As with the other muxes it will be transmitted with a power of 100kW which is 10 times the power of the temporary service on C59.

David. Following the experience of Nigel in the Archers I am reluctant to go on to the roof. I am very confident that my aerial must be pointing pretty much due east as I am at the west end of Glasgow and the transmitter is half way to Edinburgh.

As others have said, it's only five months to wait so it may be worth simply waiting to see if it is sorted out with DSO. With a bit of luck they might even start transmitting from the new mast in advance of the formal switchover.

Hi Scott, Oh god please DON'T go onto the roof, was only on the off chance it was easily accessible.

I managed to get access to my brother's aerial (he lives in Yorkhill in WE)

It is bang on pointing East, and I am thinking that is the answer.

Cheers

I have just purchased a new HD PVR. I can get all of the HD Channels but for some strange reason I can't get ITV2 and STV+1 (I can hear them but the sound cuts out a lot but no picture). Strange is I can get STV and ITV2+1. I see that MUX 2 is down as low rating. Could this have something to do with it? I tried the HD PVR in on another TV in another room and it the issue with STV+1/ITV2 is still there. I have checked the signal strength of these two channels and they don't seem any less than channels that are ok.

Briantist.

FYI There are 4 people who have the same PVR and have the same problem and we are all receiving our signal from Black Hill. I am have not tried the solution you provided but I have done a firmware upgrade which is the equivalent of a factory reset and it rescans all the channels again since they do not exist.

Well Blow my socks off, randomly tried to tune channel 59 during an advert break....and what do you know?

All 4 HD channels popped up!!!

Talk about random!

BBC HD signal quality 47, signal stength 26
BBC1 HD signal quality 47, signal stength 26
STV HD signal quality 47, signal stength 26
C4 HD signal quality 47, signal stength 26

These figures would make sense based on the low 10kW broadcast power, i'm hoping it not just a fluke due to the calm and clear weather.

A happy David
