The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Rod Roberts: Your postcode should get a good signal from Mendip, but you're very nearly in line with the Westwood relay transmitter (Bradford on Avon).
Have you tried a manual tune for the Mendip channels rather than an autotune (which might pick up Westwood)?

Rod Roberts: Ditto JimF's comments. I would manually tune in your case.
Alternatively, run the scan with the aerial unplugged and plug it in when it gets to 61%.
If, once you've done this, ITV3 is missing, then manually tune to Ch48 and this will add it and associated channels.
If Yesterday is missing, tune to Ch52. If ITV1 is missing, tune to Ch54.

My Humax freeview box failed to function again, causing my wife considerable stress which inn turn gave me gbh of the ear. Problem has been solved by a software upgrade issued by Humax. The reason for the problem [according to Humax] is 'There was a change in the broadcast signals that we werent aware of which has now been rectified by this update.' My question is who is responsible for the changes and why are they occuring. This is the 2nd time I have had this problem in recent weeks

I'm just back from Somerset where the BBC channels on C61 were very unreliable, stuttering and sometimes cutting out altogether. The other channels on C54 and C48 were mostly fine. The signal strength was a constant 70% or more on all but Quality fluctuated wildly on C61, often falling from 100% to 40% and sometimes lower while staying constant on the other channels.
Why would different channels, apparently with the same power rating behave so differently? Is there anything to be done without replacing the aerial. Maybe a signal booster?

The Humax box has stopped working yet again. If this is for the same reason as given before [see my entry for 22nd December], just what is happening to digital transmissions?

My Humax box is once again working as expected following the s/w upgrade. The reason for the need to upgrade is:-
'We believe that this problem is being caused the broadcasters changing the way that they send out the signals. The unit should now work fine.'
How much more disruption can we expect before digital switch-over is complete?
Are any other freeview boxes experiencing similar issues; feedback would be appreciated!!

bruce: Just purely out of interest, what model of Humax box are you referring to? as these are amongst the best boxes around in the technical sense and so I am rather intrigued as regards to the model that is seemingly causing you so much problems.
I also noted that you predicted as having excellent reception from Mendip on the main PSB muxes, and although the predictor indicates the same on all six muxes I feel that ArqA and ArqB (Ch67 & 52 respectively) could be a bit glitchy side as they are on much lower power until the end of next March.

DENNIS MARRABLE: It could well be! if the analogue signal used by the door camera system is going through the same distribution amplifier used to feed the TV's "if" its tuned to either the same, or very near to Ch54 from Mendip.
The only positive way of verifying (or not) if this is the problem being to temporarily pull its connection to the amplifier out, "not" switching the amp off or the TV's will obviously be affected.
If this proves to be the problem then the cameras analogue signal will require to be tuned elsewhere, the difficulty being that you have to watch you don't clash with one of the other five multiplex channels used by Mendip.
If the cameras modulator has a channel indicator set it to anything under Ch45.
