mary beattie: Without knowing the model of Panasonic involved, but on later models this can be switched on or off by going into the DVB tuning menu, then on looking down the list of options you should see "new channel message" with a choice of either "On or Off".

BBC 1 & 2 are no longer on Channel 1 & 2 respectively but ITV 1 is on channel 3; 4 is on Channel 4 and 5 is on 5.
BBC 1 HD is on channel 50 but BBC 2 is not to be found near there.

MR D Gibson: Are you referring to their positions on the EPG guide? as nothing is showing as abnormal with my reception from Sandy.

If though you have just retuned then you should beware of an over powerful signal causing problems in your TV / boxes tuner, as indications are that you are only 9 miles away from the transmitter and at that distance from a station as powerful as Sandy its very easy to suffer from signal overloading, this dependant on where a persons aerial might be positioned

Hi,

I live near Beverley in East Yorkshire and receive my TV from Belmont.

I have a wideband aerial, and I have always been able to receive transmissions from all Digital multiplexers even when transmission power was very low.

From August until November my TV registered very good signal strength and quality from all channels including C53 and C60, however since ArqA and ArqB have switched positions and increased power (November 23rd), picture quality & strength on C60 is really bad, some channels are unaccessible and others break up frequently.

All other reception continues to be excellent.

This seems very counter-intustive considering the upgrade in power from 4 kW to 100 kW.

I'm not using any signal boosters. Retunes and complete reset have been done.

Has anybody got any idea what may be causing this?

James Wilmott, somebody else may give you a more informed answer, but if possible if you can try to attenuate the signal, possibility that might help?

James Willmott: The PSBs from Belmont are at 150kW, so on the face of it, if they are OK, then you would have thought that the 100kW COMs should be OK and not too much signal.

However, the gain of wideband yagis is not as good at lower frequencies. See these gain curves on Aerials and TV's website:

Gain (curves), Again

High gain widebands in particular aren't as good on lower channels than on higher ones.

I'm not an aerial installer, so don't know to what degree this might have affect in your situation, but I can only wonder if this is the reason.
