The symbol shows the location of the Black Hill (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) transmitter which serves 940,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Black Hill (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) mast?

Brian: The signal path is uneffected, however, the usual issue is rainwater getting into your cables.

Hi
I have very low signal on BBC Radio 2 and 3, no more than 29dB (usually I have 65dB), is it temporary?

Greg: You do not say whether it is Freeview reception on your TV or FM radio reception that is showing a low signal strength. If it is FM radio a BBC reception report shows both Radio 2 and Radio 3 from Black Hill have a weak signal since 15:00 on 5th January 2012.

Thanks for quick response, ofcourse I meant FM radio, I know they both have a weak signal because I can hear it, but my question is: how long? Does anyone know?

Anne MacLeod: If it does it on two pieces of equipment then it could suggest either an aerial problem or one connected to the transmitter, this where a post code is essential to possibly verify what transmitter you are receiving a signal from, as although you mention Glasgow certain parts of the city receive signals from local relay stations, whereas people in other parts use Darvel instead of Blackhill.

You should always refrain from retuning unless you get a message on the screen to the effect, as all you do is scrub the channels already stored in the TV's or boxes memory, as even although a picture might vanish its only because the signal has dropped and not anything connected to the memory store.

I had my existing Group E aerial replaced with a Group B aerial this afternoon. This ws to serve two television sets (one previously with its own aerial pointing at the Glasgow West Central relay). Now I have the full range of services in the kitchen.

I assume I am now less likely to suffer 4G interference as the Group B aerial is
supposed to drop off at channel 53, well below the 4G frequencies.

The aerial man was a bit sceptical about feeding both sets from one aerial and said I might need a mast-head amplifier. I pointed out that one set worked on HD without
difficulty before the switchover. I suggested that, with a big increase in signal strength, the gain would surely exceed the loss from the splitting. He said I was an optimist but 'correct in theory'. The meter reading was okay. Both TVs are working.

Scott: If other people are fine, I cannot see how it could be a problem at transmitter - unless of course the others are using satellite or cable. Have you tried a full (factory) reset? The instructions will tell you how to do this.

Hi, I live in Knightswood Glasgow (G13) and I lost COM6 from Black Hill today and it's still not back as I type this. Served communually. Called Digital UK and they said it could be atmospheric pressure problems causing multiplexes to vanish with no notice. I've never been able to get the HD MUX from my feed. Not sure if this is down to the communual aerial or to do with the distribution amplifier the installer put in to run feeds into multiple rooms. Obviously I should disconnect the amplifier and plug a set straight into the RF connector but I've not got around to trying that yet. I just hope COM6 reappears at some stage!
