Hello,
During the last couple of weeks the Freeview signal from the Oxford transmitter has broken up and left me with a blank screen on most channels. It them comes and goes!
The press say it is the high pressure but I thought digital was supposed to be immune to that.
Is the low transmission power the problem?
Algy.

MENDIP 28th March: ARQ A mux is now on Ch56 and ARQ B mux is on ch52. All 6 muxes are the same level now. NB both ARQ A & ARQ B muxes are using FEC=3/4.

Will the COM4/5/6 channels ever be uprated above 12.5 Kwatts? I occasionally suffer signal degradation from the Oxford transmitter in Princes Risborough.

Mike Miles: Yes, the restriction will be lifted on 18th April when they will go up to their full final power of 50kW each.

Mike Miles: The commercial muxes had to be restricted to 12.5KW because the analogue relays at High Wycombe & Hemel Hempstead used the same UHF chaneels (55, 59 & 62). When these switch with Crystal Palace then the power will be raised at Oxford.

Algernon Black: If the only services that are troublesome are on the commercial multiplexes then you will have to wait a few weeks - until 18 April 2012 - for them to go to full power.

roger C: At present the local news is not available on BBC HD and in many areas the wrong region is received on ITV1 HD. No doubt eventually the local news will be in HD for all regions on BBC and ITV, but at the present time when the emphasis is on cost cutting there is no hurry to incur the additional expense of making local news in HD, especially as extra capacity on satellite would be necessary if the service was to be available on all platforms. Note that at present only London and Granada are available on Freesat, with Meridian Maidstone additionally being in HD on Sky/FSFS.

As I have stated before there clearly is an issue between 9 and 10 pm every night. Let's hope the increased power promised for tomorrow solves it.
