Joe: Well, as was previously mentioned what you have reported would indicate that the problem is caused by a fault on your aerial, maybe a broken connection where the coax joins into the aerials terminal box? however as you are located at only 3 miles away from the Storeton 2Kw Wales and 560w N/West transmitter you "might" be receiving an over powerful signal which is blocking your TV's tuner, and so to test if you are or not try using either a set top aerial plugged into your TV or alternatively a short piece (about 4 feet or so) of wire pushed into the inner part of your TV's aerial socket, this being followed by carrying out another Auto-tune.
If though nothing comes up then once again it points to the problem being caused by an aerial fault.
Just out of curiosity, have you verified with any of your neighbours as to whether or not they have any problems with Freeview reception? because irrespective of what a predictor might indicate you cannot beat an on site report.

Of course the other problem still remains, insomuch that I am unable to find out any technical details regarding your particular model of TV as that model number is not recognised by Philips.

Hi all, update time. I figured out to factory reset my tv, tried an internal aerial and then reset my external aerial cable. I can now get BBC Wales, ccbc and BBC radio but nothing other than BBC. Any advise on this one now? Much appreciated.

Joe: I am not quite clear about what you mean by having "reset" your external aerial cable? as the problem you now have still suggests that there is a fault with the aerial as the BBC that you are receiving is from the Storeton 2KW transmitter on Ch57 and so you should also be receiving ITV on mux Ch53, the commercials being on much lower power (560 watts) and which you are not likely receive if there is any deficiency in your aerial system.

anthony: A Humax tuner is slightly more sensitive to that of a Sony, although in cases where low level signal levels are involved all devices being used should have their own individual feed from a powered splitter, as thats the only way to guarantee that each device receives exactly the same signal level.

The Sony is after an old Tandy distribution amp, the Humax is before it, which doesn't help either. However as there is nothing that interests me on that multiplex it doesn't matter. Before Tuesday everything worked but the C/N ratio on that multiplex was only 15db (others are 37db) according to the Sony. Signal and quality levels were also low and there were post Viterbi errors but nevertheless it worked and there were no noticeable reception problems. (obviously just on the edge of the digital cliff). The Humax shows a signal strength of 27% (other multiplexes are 77%) I'm sure it was a bit higher than that before but I could be wrong, which made me suspect that DDD's problem was caused by a power reduction at the transmitter. I am to one side of their beam so not really in the service area either.
Someone has also reported this on Digital Spy as well.

anthony: internal strength indicators on tv and pvr are only for a guide you should have it checked with a proper signal meter if you want a good local firm google grax aerial ring them in the morning and ask them to recommend a local installer they don't install only sell to the trade so instead of poor reception and posting here you could have it fixed

My reception an all the main multiplexes on all TVs in the house is signal level high quality 100%. I was only trying to help DDD with his problem with the Manchester Multiplex that I don't personally use.
