The symbol shows the location of the Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) transmitter which serves 330,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) mast?

Further to my post above and that of 12th Oct. I've now reinserted the AE amplifier, and can now get BBC on TV but still nothing worth looking at on the recorder. How can Tacolneston say things are normal!

TO Anyone getting poor freeview reception at the moment, this may be caused by local tree leaves in the TX direction dying & wet, but still hanging onto the trees - once they blow off, things will improve. Yet another weakness of Digital TV.

Hi, We live in the NR16 2BA postcode and normally get good digital signal. This last week our TV signal constantly breaks up. I have checked and Tacolneston reports no issues but some engineering. Is there a way to test if our signal has dropped? I am almost sure it is not our TV/Areal at this stage. Any advise would be great!

Rob:
Not knowing what equipment you have, I'd suggest looking for the tuning facility - but do not start any scanning. Just select a programme that is giving problems and check whether the signal strength is correct, you do *not* want 100% but it should be better than 50%. Also check the signal quality, that should ideally be 80% or better.
That there are works being conducted at Tacolneston can mean signal interruptions and/or periods of lower power working.

Can anyone throw any light on reception in the Ditchingham/Hedenham area just to the north of Bungay?
I get good reception on D3&4 Ch59, and SDN Ch 42, but very poor reception (25% signal strength)on ARQA Ch45, and no reception on BBCA Ch 55.
Any ideas on why this should be and what possible actions I can take to remedy?
I have manually retuned a number of times but always the same problem. Why should channels 59 and 42 be so strong but channel 55 unable to register?

SteveW:

These muxs are outputted at the same strength so in theory you should receive them all the same, the only time that you would is if there is an something disrupting the path of said transmission.

If this is the case then you should try mounting the aerial in a different location, it is not always the highest point which is the best, for example- imagine a block of flats at the bottom of your garden, how are you going to see past it? you will need to get above it or simply move to the left or right to see past it, the same applied to receiving aerial reception, moving even a few feet from its current location could be all it needs.

regards

Steve W. You will see from my posts above, I've been having trouble with CH55 since August. This channel's reception has been fluctuating (at this location) from the point at present,(touch wood) that It's good on the non amplified AE, to some occasions when an amp is needed to get an acceptable signal. I replaced my hard drive recorder in the summer thinking it was at fault, also the AE amplifier.
There seems to be no linking with my problems with published transmitter output levels.

John Read: I am in Lowestoft, Hawthorn Av, bog standard aerial no amp, and I just done a signal test on my LG Smart TV, and signals are normal (very good) even HD Mux. (100 strength, 97% quality) I wonder if a band pass filter would help? I suspect you maybe experiencing drop outs caused by local interference from another frequency.....that is affecting ch55
