jb38:Thanks for the info.At the risk of sounding like something from the dark ages my viewing is standard definition on a 32 inch sony d3000 which gives me a very good picture. I have recently purchased a new model which has an HD tuner and a 40 inch screen but have not set it up yet so it will be interesting to see if the channels that you mentioned are there ie 81 and112.As regards channel 8 thats solent I can get this at the moment very well.Once again thanks for the clarification, its given me food for thought.

Ed Hopper: Thanks for the info. Maybe you could give an update regarding the issue of guide numbers 81 &112 once you have installed your new purchase. Although being able to receive (8) Thats Solent from Rowridges low powered LSO local Mux, indicates that you reside in a favourable location for reception from said station.

Bridport
I live near Bridport Dorset at DT6 6AH. I am trying to improve my reception and get the full range of freeview transmissions. When we moved to the louse we were getting just watchable signals on PBS1,2,3 but would get pixellation in rain. I investigated and found we were getting PBS1 on ch24, PBS2 on ch27 , PBS3 on ch21. I threfore assumed that were getting service from Rowridge but were not picking up the other commercial muxes because of distance.
I bought a new multi element A band antenne for the poorest signal areas and have installed it with vertical polarisation and with a masthead amplifier on a pole mounted on the chimney. I have carefully aligned it and now get very high quality (10/10) and very high signal stregth (10/10) on the same 3 PBS muxes but still none of the commercial mux's.
I note that Rowridge broadcasts at 200.000 watts on the vertical polarisation on the com muxes as well so my question is "Why am I not seeing them if the pbs muxes are so strong"
I am really puzzled by htis and would welcome any advice.
Thanks

Tony Dix: Basically because the output from Rowridges three COM channels is restricted in the West/ North Westerly direction to avoid causing interference to Stockland Hill, this stations COM's transmitting on the same frequency as Rowridge, albeit being slightly offset from the centre frequency to help avoid being affected by the latter.

Tony Dix: Also meant to say, that this is why no coverage prediction levels are seen under Rowridge's COM channels on digitaluk's trade chart, accessed by clicking on same in the blue boxes under your posting, reception of these channels officially listed as not being possible in the area in question.

Po382ae, with roof ariel, clear site to rowridge. we have lost this evening, all channels broadcasting on com5 and com6 on all 3 tv's with built in tuners, have checked ariels, connectors direction etc and done full reset and fresh instalation (re-tune) with no effect other than to wipe all com5 and com6 channels from the list.

Aerial on roof.
Normally good Freeview signal. But signal lost or poor each morning for past week. Then seems ok in evening.
Have tried retune but no improvement.

Andrew Cooper:
Your location is poorly served by any transmitter (see Freeview reception at SP61E S), you being in the valley, though the 'preferred' one is Rowridge, either vertical or horizontal or both. Retuning at such times will make no difference at all but may result in the loss of some services. The cause may be the mass of trees forming the New Forest which is between you and Rowridge.
Have you checked the signal strength and quality at times when reception is poor and when it is good? What resulkts do you get? If the strength is greater than about 80% you have too string a signals, if it is less than 50% then you r signal is too weak. In that case you might try an external aerial mounted higher than currently. If it is too strong then an attenutaor should be tried.
