The symbol shows the location of the Darvel (East Ayrshire, Scotland) transmitter which serves 150,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Darvel (East Ayrshire, Scotland) mast?

Help. I have had digital TV for 10 years with no issues, over the last week my TV's has started to have problems, I have reset them both and retuned but to no avail.

My Post Code is KA7 3LJ which according to the above information should have a good signal from rge transmitter.

Craig: What do you mean by 'problems'. If you mean signal breakup, look at signal strength - your only 24km from the transmitter. If they are both suffering low signal strength, check the common factor - bad connection from aerial perhaps?

KA9 2DY Aerial on roof Distribution amp.

Noticed last night not receiving some hd channels.
Re-Tuned tv youview box etc all to no avail

Noticed on the darvel site the missing channels 45 101 102 103 104 105 123 602 and 603 all are transmitted
via the same mux channel psb3 bbcb.
Previously all working all working now these channels are not being picked up by the channel scan
Dont think problem lies at home as all other channels above and below are workink well
Would appreciate some thoughts.

David Johnston: Take a look at the signal strenths on the channels that are working, you'll probably find they are very high (i.e. 90% plus). Having too much signal can cause the tuner to become overloaded, with HD channels being particularly susceptible to this problem. If your amplifier has a gain control, try turning it down, otherwise you may need to fit an attenuator to reduce your signal strength a bit. Take a look at the article titled "Too much of a good thing" on this website for more information.

As you've already retuned, you'll probably find the missing channels have been deleted from your program guide, so you'll have to rescan again to add them back after making adjustments. In future, do not retune if you loose signal as retuning will never cause a channel which is already tuned in correctly to reappear.

David Johnston: I agree that it is a problem affecting the PSB3 mux, however there are no faults with the transmitter so it has to be something within your system. Have you investigated my earlier suggestion of too much signal strength?

StevensOnln1: The amp that I put in is from Labgear and for some strange reason all their connections are now
F plugs so think amp is a last resort at the moment. Was up early this morning checked telly and low and behold
channels have reappeared though they disappeared as the day progressed this would indicate a lack of signal strength as propagation conditions are better at night and signals travel farther. Also noticed channel 32 movie mix very pixelatted checked signal strength which was good though quality was poor. Your correct in the fact that the rest of the channel sig strengths are quite high. The mux transmitting frequency of 530 Mhz lies approx in the middle of Darvels transmitting range starting at 480 up to 602 Mhz so an actual fault in the amp is unlikely.
Curiouser and curiouser

David Johnston: I wasn't suggesting that there was a fault with your amplifier, which would be very unlikely anyway given that other muxes are fine. I was suggesting that you are experiencing some signal lift which is causing too much signal going in to the tuner and overloading it, which DVB-T2 transmissions are particularly susceptible to and that turning down the amplifier a little (no disconnection required) might resolve the problem. Take a look at the article titled "Too much of a good thing" on this site for explanation.

Since yesterday (13th Feb) Freeview reception of BBC channels has been breaking up in both sound and vision. This seems to correspond with BBCA multiplex. I receive signal from Darvel and I live in Troon, posrcode KA10 7DL. I am aware that this address is on the edge of the published coverage, but I have had no problems until now. Can anything be done to help?
