We have lost the channels that are on com 7, C55 from the Belmont transmitter and it appears that this has been given over to 5g. Are the channels being reallocated to a different one or have we lost them forever?

Glen Wood: COM7 on UHF channel 55 is still broadcasting from Belmont, no closure date has yet been announced and the 700MHz spectrum auction hasn't taken place yet (the auction has already been delayed from last year and may potentially be delayed again due to the current lockdown). Do you get any signal strength and quality readings for C55? The Freeview checker predicts poor reception for COM7 from Belmont at your location, which is showing overlapping coverage from several other transmitters, so reception of COM7 may well be limited by interference at your location.

Glen Wood:

As per my post immediately before yours (bottom of p81) Belmont has been on Planned Engineering this week, so that may account for your loss of signal. IF you retuned when there was no signal it will most likely have cleared the correct tuning and you'll have to try again when signals are normal BUT also note that there MAY be a brief interval of Tropospheric Ducting which MIGHT produce additional interference to disrupt signals/reception.
If you have not retuned, DON'T. Signals should return to normal in due course.

Thank you for your assistance Chris but I'm now thinking it might be the Philips TV that is having trouble with these channels, I have tried a smaller JVC that receives the channels but will persevere with the Philips. The other half wanted to watch the snooker on ForcesTV which is what highlighted this problem in the first place.

I'm going to leave this for now, after further digging the Philips TV can't register a signal for Ch64 Freesports whereas the JVC can.
Thank you for trying to help.

Glen Wood:

Hi Glen, as pointed out by StevensOnln1, the COM7 multiplex which carries Freesports is a lower transmission power than the other multiplexes. Are you just interchanging the TVs in the same place or are they using different aerial outlets?

It may be worth you doing a check on all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. Flyleads can be a common problem, try swapping them.

See what signal strengths (if any) and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section (try that with both sets), this might indicate potential issues with your aerial or downlead.
Also check that your downlead looks undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.

Problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just AN individual or several multiplexes.

Both tvs in the same place with the same connections. The Philips TV doesn't have any signal for Freesports or any channel on the same com. The channels do sometimes show on the epg guide but no picture or sound. All the other channels on both tvs receive 90 to 100% signal and quality. I use Belmont for the best reception at my location. Never had a problem before this TV (which is turning out to be by far the worst one I've had).
Thank you for all the assistance with this but I don't think it's solvable as long as I have the Philips tv unless they up the power output for the com.

Glen Wood:

Just re-reading all the above information, I see one thing that hasn't been mentioned. Do you have any HDMI connections to the set? If so make sure the HDMI leads are well away from the aerial leads and flyleads especially if those aerial/flyleads are not the high quality double screened type.
HDMI can cause interference especially to C55 (for some reason). I'm not aware of any definitive research that indicates whether particular makes and models are more vulnerable than others BUT I suspect that could be the case. Be interested to know if that's the problem you have.

Well Chris I bow to your superior knowledge. I've only 1 hdmi cable from the dvd player and made sure it's as far away from the aerial lead as possible, they were tangled up with all the other wires behind there and Freesport and all the other channels are back. If they disappear again I'll take note on what was happening at the time and post again.
Many thanks for your input on this matter.
