Looks like I have lost COM7 and COM8 since the Craigkelly clearance change. No amount of retuning is bringing them back. I only had a new aerial fitted a couple of years ago. Grrr.

Leigh: If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

StevensOnln1: I bet that only applies if you lose access to standard definition public service transmissions, so PSB1 & PSB2, not any of the COM muxes. That's certainly true of the offer to install free-to-air satellite if a suitable aerial can't be fitted.

John Robinson: That is certainly not the case, I've seen numerous reports on this website and others from people who have lost reception of one or more COM muxes who have had a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, in several cases where the only muxes lost were the temporary COM7 & COM8 services. The code of service document also states that their installers will investigate any reception problem and provide a replacement aerial when required. The limitation you mention states that a free of charge Freesat installation will only be offered if the PSB1/2 muxes cannot be restored, it does not state any such restriction on any other work.

Hello,
I have a Group K aerial for Craigkelly and have lost Four HD, because it went to channel 55 or 56; above 48 anyway. Thank you for suggesting that I may be able to get a new wideband aerial, but I recall I had issues with Angus interference, and it's a hassle I don't need, as it's quite hard to tune the aerial where I am.
I have looked at the coverage checker, probably not in enough detail, but I cannot figure out if this is temprorary (and for how long).
Is there somewhere a clear and concise description of the plan for Craigkelly?

AEKostas: All planned frequency changes for Craigkelly have been completed. COM7 & COM8 have moved to form single frequency networks on UHF channels 55 & 56, where they will stay until they close, which is expected to be 2022 at the latest. There have been no plans announced for any further frequency changes for COM7 or COM8 and it would be unlikely that any spare frequencies could be found to allow for any further changes to take place.

Please go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and put in your full post code and house number. Then scroll down to find the listing for the Craig Kelly transmitter. That will tell you the current channel settings and those expected in the future, together with when any changes might be expected.

StevensOnln1: thanks; I contacted them and have an appointment with them. Fingers crossed they will supply a decent aerial. Interesting to see if they will re-instate the bird-guards.
MikeP: thanks for the link. I cannot readily see the "expected in future" channels and the listing is missing (or so I think) BBC FOUR HD and channel 56, which is disconcerting. It confirms that I need a wideband, which I do not currently have.
