Martyn Smith: From the description of the fact that you have turned your aerial away from where it used to face I suspect that your aerial is way OTT which is overloading your tuner.

Before switchover the power of Crystal Palace was/is 20kW. Where line of sight to the transmitter is good, a small set-top aerial is likely to be sufficient.

I used a non-powered set-top aerial at 25 miles from Emley Moor before switchover when transmission power was only 10kW. This worked quite well. I have one of these Labgear aerials:

The fact that signal quality is so low may have come about due to the signal level being way too high for what the TV can cope with. It's a bit like turning up your hifi to full blast and then amplifying it a bit more. The outcome is total distortion which could explain the poor signal quality in your case.

Dave Lindsay: Thank you for your reply of 4 April at 6.45pm. You are right the 14 extra channels are duplicates on 800+ Will they disappear on second switchover date?

The HD channels were seriously breaking up during the day today. I wanted to record a couple of programmes for earlier this evening, but didn't risk HD. However, having come home and checked the HD channels they are now perfect. Does night-time make any difference.

I don't understand muxes or how to determine which channels programmes are on, other than channel 1 for BBC1, channel 2 for BBC2 etc !!!

Big Mart: Yes, they will disappear at the second switchover.

I'm not too sure whether different times of day makes a great difference. Evidently you're on the margin for HD channels which, BTW, before switchover are on lower power than standard definition channels and therefore have a smaller footprint of coverage.

After switchover all channels are on the same power.

The channel list above shows channel Nos until 4th April, the what they will be from the 18th April. But does not tell us what they will be from 4th to 18th.
I have found that even though I re-tuned my PC based Freeview recorder, none of the progams in my timer list have been recorded since 3rd April, I suspect this is because several TV & radio channels now appear twice in my EPG.

I dont understand why they just didnt do switch on a single date. All this business of giving people time to get a set top box is stupid, as they have had years to do it allready.

As usual in the UK the majority have to be inconvieneced to accomodate the few( if any) who have not prepaired.

Anyone else having problems with a slingbox post April 4th? I have lost half of the BBC Mux (No BBC2/News etc but can get BBC1). If I change the country to Italy (or another random DVB-T country) the whole multiplex comes in but I lose my Freeview channel numbers..

Can someone please explain the status of the MUX PSB3/BBCB, please? (See above). Is it transmitting at "Very low" or "Maximum" power? I don't see how it could be transmitting at both.

BBC2 disappeared from my slingbox lineup in the last 24 hours after my buddy in the UK told me to retune using the digital input. I'm more than frustrated and I'm desperately seeking a solution.

Chris: If you are referring to Crystal Palaces Freeview HD service then its presently only operating on 10Kw but will be switching to 200Kw on the 18th of this month.
