The symbol shows the location of the Divis (Northern Ireland) transmitter which serves 440,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Divis (Northern Ireland) mast?

Peter Henderson. Thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to answer my questions on Freeview acquisition for my sister who lives on the Carnmoney Road Near to the library. I could only spot one Digital aerial locally and this appears to point at Divis/Cave Hill direction and is horizontally polarised.Currently my sister has an older aerial pointing to(I think-Carnmoney). Analogue reception on this aerial is very good, so maybe it'll be better to point a wideband one in this direction?? Would this be vertical or horizontal polarity please? Thanks again for all your help- I really appreciate it.P.S. I trust that Mike Dimmock's reference to "SPAM" is not directed at me.

Was on the Antrim Road area of Glengormly about half an hour ago Jack and it looks like all the aerials are pointing towards Carnmoney Hill, even on the older houses, so it looks like Freesat if she doesn't want to pay for extra channels from Sky or Virgin etc.

After DSO Divis will only require a group A antenna, but I'd be inclined to run with Freesat and Carnmeny Hill (which will also carry 3, or maybe 4 RTE stations). Might be simpler in the long run.

With the addition of 5* and 5 USA, along with Channel 5+1, Freesat is virtually as good (if not better) than Freeview these days anyway. and a far better option than Feeeview Lite.

P.S. Carnmoney Hill will require a group B bgoth pre and post DSO.

Richard: In situations such as this, retuning is likely to cause more problems and doesn't solve anything. Unless it is known that the TV is tuned to the wrong frequency, then the tuning is OK.

I think that it's likely that the level of the signals to the TV have dropped, maybe due to atmospheric conditions (for example). Now you aren't going to know when they are back because your TV isn't tuned.

I suggest that you attempt to manually tune in any missing channels. Having got some tuned, then don't do another auto-tune scan because it will wipe them. Once you have some, you need to keep manually tuning to the channels (frequencies) of the missing ones.

For manual tuning, the channels used by Divis are:

Mux 1 - BBC One, BBC Two etc - Ch29
Mux 2 - UTV, C4 etc - Ch33
Mux A - ITV3, QVC etc - Ch23
Mux B - BBC Four, BBC Parliament etc - Ch26
Mux C - Pick TV, Dave etc - Ch48
Mux D - Yesterday, Film4 etc - Ch34

Thanks Dave, My father was in an electrical store in town and was told thesignal from Divis had been reduced or something.

I guess when it increase's again and if i do an auto scan they will appear. In mean time i will try manual scan

Thanks
