I'm not happy with losing BBC News HD, formerly of com-7 Channel 31 (554.0MHz)

Will this channel be reinstated in future from Tacolneston? My postcode: NR4 7SF (loft aerial)

Peter Chamberlin:

BBC News HD is on Com7 which is now on channel 55 (Com 8 is on channel 56). It could be that your original aerial is unable to receive thee higher channels, hence the apparent loss of the service. You need to retune and check what reception of Com 7 is like on channel 55. If it is weak, then you need a wideband aerial installed. If you do not have a satellite service or cable, then you may qualify for a free aerial replacement by contacting 0808 100 0288 which is the Freeview Advice Line number.

Christopher & Yvonne Thrower:

Have you done a full retune? Some changes were implimented over night and you need a retune to get your channels back. You may also need an aaerial change to get channels 55 and 56 for Com 6 and Com 7 services as you existing aerrial may not receive them now.

Derek Woollestone:

It could be that your existing aerial is unable to receive channels 55 and 66 for Com 7 and Com 8. At change of aerial to a wideband type would be needed in that case. Call the Freeview advice line on 0808 100 0288 to see if you qualify for a free replacement of your aerial.

Our Humax PVR is also currently reporting Tacolneston ch.55 (COM7) as having zero signal strength (COM8 on ch.56 is OK). This wasn't the case immediately following the 6/6 retune event, when both ch.55 and ch.56 were receivable, so looks to be something that has happened since. On a signal meter ch.56 is reading 50 dBV but ch.55 only 27 dBV which is noise level.

I have a wideband 48 element high gain aerial (fitted Nov 2017) and like others have lost BBC News HD, Channel 4+1, et al. According to my TV there is no signal on Channel 55. Like Richard Russell this was ok post the upgrade on 6 Jun 18 but has since disappeared.

COM7 has been off air all day. I first noticed it had gone at about 10 p.m. yesterday evening. There does not seem to be any place to report faults these days. You'd think they would be aware of it by now but I am beginning to wonder.

15 is exactly the number of services in COM7, which by all accounts is currently off-air from Tacolneston (channel 55). When it's back do another retune and hopefully all will be well.

Tacolneston COM7 on ch55 is also conspicuous by its absence here in Lowestoft. COM8 on 56 is coming through full blast and even LOC1 (currently on 57) puts in a reliable appearance here on the north Suffolk coast, when it really probably shouldn't.

As reported by others, my various TVs and boxes initially reported a full signal on COM7 following the re-tune on 6 June - but when I tried to watch BBC News HD on Saturday morning... well you can guess the rest.

I'm pleased/relieved to read that others are also reporting a lack of COM7. Seems odd that an entire multiplex should - we assume - be off air for so long. I've not been able to find any official note of COM7's status anywhere online.

Where's Transmitter News on page 297 of Oracle when you need it?!
