Ivan Dilks According to the specifications I have seen that model does not have a DVB-T2 tuner and as such is only an HD ready set, in other words can display HD via an external HD box.

try attenuating the signal while the bt box tunes in an attenuator can be purchased from any aerial installers shop or Maplin electronics

Problem with doing this though is that you could attenuate sutton coldfield too much that it wont pick the correct transmitter up and its a fruitless experience

I can understand your frustration as you can't (in my experience of bt vision) manually tune the boxes you have to let it do a full channel scan - SO BLOODY FRUSTRATING - i had a similar problem where a customers was picking up Billsdale as well as emley moor and it refused to rule out billsdale as a weaker transmitter - the aerial in this situation was pointing at emley moor but Billsdale was on virtually the same angle - at least by sounds of it you have 90 degrees of separation

I tried attenuating the signal there but by the time I had put a big enough attenuator to rule out Billlsdale it destroyed emley moors signal too - so unfortunately that process failed

I solved this customers problem by taking the box home tuning it in on my aerial then taking it back

do you have a friend or relative that receives sutton coldfield with no interference from Waltham

nip over - tune it in then bring it back home

this may solve your problem - its a long shot but sounds like your willing to try anything

Channel 58 from Waltham will remain on low power until 12th October.Channel 58 is not an HD channel.

HD transmissions are on channel 61. Look for station numbers 50-54.

if you google the model number 46xf355d it comes up with a TOSHIBA tv that IS full HD

The confusion is that you state its an Hitachi so part of your info seems to be incorrect

So im confused with that

ANY how - Ivan - read my post I have put on several times about too strong a signal (click to the right where it says how many posts ive added - )

Annabel Cowley: You didn't provide a postcode, but the advise is the same as for everyone else here - the signal is too strong and you need to remove any amplifiers or boosters you have in your system.

Dominic Payer: I suspect that you are mixing up EPG numbers with actual multiplex transmitter ones, as there is only one MUX (not an EPG number) channel on low power on Waltham and thats Mux Ch29 (ITV3/QVC etc) MUX Ch58 is the HD channel as I receive it on one of my sets.

kB Aerials Sheffield: Yes I noticed that Ivan had referred to that number as being a Hitachi device, but according to my info there isnt one, so what I mentioned regarding the tuner (not DVB-T2) was referring to Toshiba.

A slight problem with ITV1. I'm receiving this channel from Waltham (manually tuned). During daytime hours I get a very good picture. In the evening when switching to ITV1 it takes several minutes for the signal to come through. Will ITV1 improve as days go by?

I'm trying to retune 3 separate TVs to the Waltham digital signal and two have retuned perfectly - no problems at all.

For some reason, the third has retuned OK, except for BBC1 and BBC2, which are just unwatchable. All 3 TVs are fed from the same aerial (with a 3 way splitter/booster) so I'm a bit puzzled as to why 2 TVs are OK and the third isn't picking up the Beeb channels, despite my trying an "install from new" on the third telly.

I see there was some transmitter work going on Waltham, but the alert seems to say it was finsihed on 31st August and it's 2nd Sept today...

Post code LN5 9BX.

Any ideas??
Many thanks!

Jim J: The following variants of ITV1 HD currently exist on Freeview:

Meridian South (Meridian & Anglia)
Granada (Granada, Yorkshire & Border)
Central West (Central)
London (London, Tyne Tees, Wales, West and Westcountry)

London and Tyne Tees are from the early HD services at Crystal Palace and Pontop Pike respectively.

These are also the only services on satellite; the mapping from postcode to services is different; Meridian South and Central West are encrypted, so only available to Sky viewers, not Freesat. Oddly, they are both now on the UK footprint Astra 2D satellite, so I'm not sure why they remain encrypted.

Scotland gets STV HD Central West (i.e. Glasgow).
