I admire your efforts Mark to try and see when the various switch-offs would take place. I doubt you ruined anyone's viewing though. Having said that there were two interesting looking films on ITV and Ch4 (analogues) that I can't see now!

Are all muxes transmitting?
I lost ITV earlier so figured DSO2 was done.
Rescanned but can only tune into the mux on C55. All other muxes are missing :(
Doubt it is too much signal as i got all muxes fine (even the BBCA when it was ramped upto 100K 2 weeks ago)
Not looking good so far :(

John Ramsbottom.Thanks for yer kind words of wisdom,although i'm not a professional in relation to mostly freeview,TV,aerials,etc,just an amateur myself with some knowledge in what i described above,i have considerably learned a lot through this website and a few others and basically to the best of my capabilities pass on some useful advice to many others on this website.I do have some experience on TV aerials having toyed around with them since i was a wee kid,getting the best position for TV reception,getting the connections right,fixing and repairing aerials,what aerial groups they belong,etc,(i'm not in the aerial fitting trade i must stress myself) apart from that,i'm also a wee bit of an anorak myself too.Hopefully the transition from analogue/low powered pre-digital to high powered digital only TV from the old Taccy mast to the new Tacolneston transmitter runs much more smoothly here than in neighbouring Sudbury transmitter region centred mainly in Suffolk,Essex,etc,where there are still rumblings of discontent amongst their freeview users still going on,and due to further switchovers in the early part of 2012 namely in Crystal Palace,Bluebell Hill,Dover,Hannington,Heathfield,Rowridge to name a few,some Sudbury viewers until those masts that i had just mentioned above complete DSO will have to put up with low powered SDN,ArqA and more so ArqB mux's until at least Wed 27 June 2012 when their understrength commercial multiplexes i described finally goes to full power 100kw (each) by then and not before.

Well im in bury town center upto 9th nov i had full set of channels from tacolneston i retuned on 9th and got 95% signal off BBCA
now ive just tried to retune for the 23rd for the final time and get nothing except sudbury off back of the aerial watchable just about at 2am
heres info of full channels i can receive
ch41 - 10 channels sudbury off back a/e
ch44 - 21 channels sudbury off back a/e
ch49 - 25 channels sudbury off back a/e
ch52 - 0 channels tacolneston
ch55 - 21 channels tacolneston
ch59 - 0 channels tacolneston
ch62 - 0 channels tacolneston
not sure why i cannot get 52,59,62
i was getting all these before switch over

Ok Mark. You sound as though you were a bit like me when you were younger. I used to fiddle around with valve black & white TVs (405/625) in the 70s and worked for BBC radio in the 80s. Regarding the digital switchover, it is clearly working better in some areas than others. I wasn't aware of the situation in Sudbury although I won't be able to get the SDN, ArqA and ArqB Muxes at all as Thetford won't be radiating these. I note with interest that the main multiplexes seem to be using the analogue channels post switchover which seems to make much sense given that these frequencies were worked out very carefully in the 60s and have been found to work together generally ok. This would also make dealing with the repeaters much easier and I have a feeling that the repeaters are using the same equipment pre and post switchover given that engineers have not generally been present at these during switchover nights.

John,Bury St Edmunds.Try resetting yer appliance and if it allows you manually scan the Tacolneston frequencies instead.These being fr's 42,45,50,55,59,62.

John Taccy is now on 42, 45, 50, 55, 59 and 62(HD) nothing on 52 from Taccy.
All muxes were up and running at Taccy the last one switched on at 2.05 being ch50 MuxD (ArqivaB).

I forgot to say that D3+4 mux is now operating in Thetford and presumably Tacolneston. I can't see any sign of the BBCB mux but this may be because it looks like an HD only service. I can now see Channel 5 for the first time (at home) since it came into service although of course I may not like the programmes! Actually I did see a bit of it on the night it started by taking a portable tv in the car and driving nearer to Tacolneston. That must seem seriously nerdy!
