Tim: Yes, I certainly feel that you could well be correct there and so it will be interesting to hear the result of Paul's set top aerial / wire test, as in situations where excessively high signal levels are experienced the type of test mentioned will nearly always result in a picture of sorts being received, then if necessary an attenuator can be fitted in line with the main aerial.

Poor ITV1 HD Reception.

We live in St.Albans (AL4) had a new LG TV installed on Saturday and watched ITV1 HD on Sunday without any problems.

Yesterday, did a rescan and then whilst trying to watch football found the picture pixelating and then having no signal for a couple of seconds, (it was raining. Later on I looked at the siqnal quality & strength and found that quality was at 5%. On checking BBC1 HD and Channel4 HD, they were nearer to 100%.

Is anyone else experiencing this or a similar problem with ITV1 HD

Not having any problems with freeview HD here in Radlett. Can't understand why your having problems with ITV1HD as all HD channels are on the same mux.

Gary Faulkner: All HD services are carried on the same signal as part of the same multiplex, therefore the same strength and quality will be given for BBC One, BBC HD, ITV1 HD and Channel 4 HD from the same transmitter and the same time.

Therefore, check that the UHF channel that they are all tuned to is C30.

David Taylor: Although what you have said suggests that it could be caused by a fault with the boxes power supply, but before you condemn the box you should try it using a set top aerial or just a piece of wire (12" or so) pushed into the inner part of the aerial socket, as with you being located at only 11 miles away from Crystal Palace then the possibility of signal overloading problems must always be suspected.

I have an engineer coming out on Monday. Will see whether this is a mechanical or the aerial.

Kate: I have Hauppauge Win 7 running on my PC.which probably behaves in a similar way to your system. You first need to clear the existing channel database, before starting the TV program ( as opposed to TV Programme), then retune by selecting Crystal Palace as source. Is your software up to date?. Best of luck.

ITV1 HD Problem.

I know the channel it is on is U21, where the BBC HD is on a different channel. Not at home to check this, but am I right in thinking I might need to manually tune this channel

Gary Faulkner: I assume that "U21" means UHF channel 21 is HD services from Sandy Heath which are available at your location.

I am surprised that the TV has not stored all services from one multiplex.

What you do depends on the design of the TV; what it will allow. You may find the Crystal Palace ITV1 HD in your 800s and you may just swap the two. Or you may delete the main ITV1 HD and manually add the CP one which is on C30.
