Hi all
Tried tuning ch 24, no signal then ch 26 strong signal good quality so must be Stockland Hill.
However, my aerial is pointing south west towards Lyme Bay somewhere around 220 degrees so must be locking on to a reflected signal.
Thanks for all the advice.

Idris Martin: Well, although the signal path from both Stockland Hill and Rowridge is obstructed the terrain indicator shows that the severity of the obstruction is far greater in the case of the latter, this somewhat tallying up with your findings insomuch that Stockland's C26 was received but not Rowridges C24, albeit that Rowridge's "vertically" polarised PSB transmissions "are" indicated as providing a superior signal to that from Stockland H.
Of course if (as expected) your aerial is mounted horizontally then this could account for nothing being received.
That said, although it does have to be admitted that anything seen on a reception predictor has to treated with an element of caution, but a point to note is that when carrying out a manual tune test for the purpose of signal assessment its always advisable to enter the "C" number into the box but "not" follow this by immediately pressing search or scan, because on most devices hesitating before pressing same will cause the tuner to act like a proper signal strength meter whereby it will indicate signals down to very low levels underneath that necessary to resolve a picture, but which are ignored during a scan.
By the way, the info seen by opening the undermentioned link (copy and paste into your browser) provides details of the what's expected in your area, the two following being that indicated on the terrain predictor from both the stations in question.

Can anyone check something for me please.
I'm on Rowridge HP and I'm getting the RT channel in 4:3 aspect ration whereas it should be 16:9 and also Film4+1 seems to show16:9 in 14:9 ratio.
I'm using a set top box with my tv and I've tried a backup box and get the same result.
This has been going on since last Thursday and I'm beginning to wonder if my tv might be on the blink.
Both these channels are COM6 so it could be something funny is going on there as I don't have a problem with other channels on that COM so is it my tv or is it them?
Cheers...Colin

Colin1951uk: I don't think the issue is with your equipment.
I have a 4:3 CRT TV with Sony RDR-HXD870 PVR set for 4:3 letterbox and RT has appeared as anarmorphic 4:3 widescreen for several days now - that is the 16:9 picture it fills the 4:3 screen with no black bars, so figures on the screen are squashed and are tall and thin.
A 16:9 LG TV shows Film4+1 as 14:9.
I receive my TV from Emley Moor.

Dave Lindsay: Thanks very much for he check.
It appears this is a nationwide glitch then so I wonder what's going on?
I'll try a bit of Googling and see if I can find anything that might throw some further light on it.
Bit of a relief to know it's not only me anyway.
Thanks again.

Colin1951uk: As I said on another thread, my CRT/digibox setup seems to be going to widescreen as standard, rather than 4:3. Thats fine. However, my wife was recording a programme on 4-7 (Com 6) earlier this evening , and my Sony HXD895 was recording it in exactly the same way that Dave Lindsay described. Since I'm getting signals from Waltham, I think your right, its a national thing.

Hello all,
I'm in the SO30 (Hedge End) area and have had good reception from Rowridge until recently when all COM 5 (ArqA) channels I watch started pixelating and then dropped out. I have tried the full re-install on both the Samsung TV and Sagem HDD recorder without sucess. I have looked for causes of single channel interference but found nothing wrong.
Has anyone else using this transmitter experienced the same problem?

hi,
all muxes have been working fine.
if an obstruction has been built in your line of sight to the transmitter this could be causing the issue you are having. if you can access your aerial you should try to move it, even a few feet left or right can clear the view of an obstruction.
