StevensOnln1: hi thank you for your reply....i changed the rf output to C38 which is a lot better im getting a picture with sound but it keeps jumping around and i have flashes off green...ive tryed fine tune no luck..any other ideas?

Jane crabb: Just to be clear, are you really trying to pick up signals from the Mendip Transmitter? - according to your postcode it's the furthest transmitter from you! and you addressed your previous post to Charles Stuart and I don't see a recent post from him on this board.
But in any event, any box that has an RF output (in your case a Sky box) can produce interfering signals at various channels above the one to which it is set, so I would not use C38 as some multiplexes you want to receive are above it. I would go for C62 and above as they are no longer used by Freeview. The only potential issue I see with that is if you have a 4G phone that uses the same band of frequencies it might affect your phone signal.

Hi, Have just moved to a new house, BA22 8TX, and I am picking up everything from Mendip except com7 and com 8 channels, is it the old problem of needing two aerials to make everything work or is this just a bad reception area? I have a wideband aerial on the roof and have tried re-tuning to no available, any ideas?

Is your aerial a wideband type? Mendip transmits HD on channels 33 and 35, which is outside of the range covered by a typical Group C/D aerial commonly used for the other services. You say you have a wideband aerial, but is it realy a true 'wide band' type? If not, that may affect the signal strength for HD at your TV set so that they are too weak. Check the strengths shown on each multiplex by your TV, the manual will tell you how.
The best solution is not an amplifier nor a second aerial but replacing the current one with a good log-perodic aerial that covers all the current and foreseeable future channels. You should aim for a signal strength of between 60% and 85% for HD services and no more than 85% for SD channels. At just 38km from Mendip you should be getting good signals, but the other alternative sources are much further away and don't give local service for the Yeovil area.

Bill McDonald: Your 33km from Mendip, which carries both muxes, so you should be totally fine, so I'd check if you are actually tuned to Mendip at all.

I have no problem with all the other stations on my equipment, it just seems that the area I am in seems to be a bit of a dead spot for Com7 and Com8, and yes I am tuned to Mendip.

If I read it correctly, am I right in concluding that post the 2019 change over, Mendip looses muxes Comm 7 and Comm 8. If so , does that mean that I loose BBC4 HD? Thank you.

COM7 and COM8 have always been a temporary solution to a lack of spectrum, so when the channels and multiplexes are reorganised they will no longer be needed as the channels they currently carry are intended to be moved to other multiplexes. That means you do not lose any services unless the broadcaster decides to cease transmission.
