MikeP: Just had a brand new aerial system fitted by a very good recommended fitter, plus a brand new TV, still have problems, there is no answer saving the building of a relay. I find the signal here in BA22 8TX rubbish. I used to live in Belfast with a fantastic signal from Divis, I was looking straight at the mast from BT4 1PJ, so always had a great reception.

Bill McDonald:
Take a look at the Digital UK prediction for your location. You will find it at Coverage Checker - Detailed View That shows your location should have excellent reception from Mendip. However, you might be getting signals from one of the other available transmitters, so please check that you are tuned to the correct channels for Mendip as shown on that website.

Bill McDonald:
In addition to what MikeP has said (you need to enter your TV's Programme Tuning Settings section - see your manual) you may need to check that you don't in fact have TOO MUCH signal. If you find that you have 100% signal but somewhat less than 100% quality on the strongest muxes, then Too Much signal is a likely possibility. Interference is also another possibility in this situation as mentioned by MikeP in his post on the 22nd May, there is a mobile phone mast 310m from you according to the UKFreeTV map.
Do you have any aerial/distribution amplifier in your installation?

Cheddar
Hello,
Our postcode is BS27 3DT in Cheddar. We can only get Devon and Cornwall local news rather than Somerset. Do you know why this is and what we can do about it please? I say "we" as there are 55 flats in the building...
Thanks very much,
Jackie

Jackie: If you're receiving Devon & Cornwall regional news then your aerial is pointed at the Stockland Hill transmitter rather than Mendip. To change this would require the aerial to be realigned (or replaced if it isn't a wideband type) and pointed at Mendip.

Jade:
Please put your full post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker That will tell what channels are available in your location. Remember that some parts of south Bristol do not receive from Mendip but may be using Kings Weston Hill or one of the other local relay services. The Coverage checker will tell you which are available at your location and whther they are expected to give reliable service.

The colour of the dispklayed bars on that website will indicate just how poor of variabole it is likely to be. Only local technical services, such as an aerial installer, are likely to have any idea of how variable it might be at you specific location.
