The symbol shows the location of the Black Hill (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) transmitter which serves 940,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Black Hill (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) mast?

Topm Tulloch:

There are over 1100 transmitters around the country so we have no idea which you should be using. So will you please provide a full post code so that triggers the display of the reception prediction data.

If you are using the Black Hill transmitter you should be getting all the available channels, so that suggests you are not using Black Hill.

I live in Bathgate and have excellent signal strength from Blackhill. When prompted to retune my tv etc I discovered that I no longer have access to BBC4 HD and the other stations available on channels 32 and 35. Is this a permanent change?

Hi 700MHz clearance on Black Hill, Scotland happened 5th September, however, I note that the frequencies reported by this website are identical to what they were before the clearance changes, but that some channels (BBC News HD, Channel 4+1HD) are no longer receivable as they were before.

Can someone confirm that the MUX frequencies have indeed NOT changed as a part of these works. I use a MUX config file with the 9 MUX'es listed as text within on a PC based tuner - hence my interest.

The no-longer receivable channels are also on the same MUX as previously.

Hi

There are no services at 562MHz or 586MHz (com7 + com8) despite full carrier (as listed in channel breakdown above). I can only assume that com7 and com8 have moved, but my system needs to know the frequencies so I can't re-tune until until I know which frequencies (in MHz) com7 and com8 have been moved to.

Hi

To answer my own question, on 5th Sept:

com7 moved from C32 (562.0MHz) to C55 (746MHz) eg BBC News HD
com8 moved from C35 (586.0MHz) to C56 (754MHz) eg BBC4 HD

Just verified this with individual frequency tuning.

And here was me thinking that this was a 700MHz 'clearance', not moving MUX'es further into the 700MHz spectrum!

See, half way down this page for the info re the moving of com7 and com8

Ofcom announces 700 MHz clearance schedule 2017-20

specifically: "Channel 55 and 56 will be used for the interim HD multiplex com7 and com8:"

eg expect another re-tune when these MUX'es move again - likely back down below 700MHz

Nigel Webber:

The frequencies used have indeed changed, enter your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker. That will list the transmitters available in your area, give an indication of expected reception and show the channel numbers for all the available services.

We contributors know this website is not current but the owner is the only person alloed to make any changes - but he is not available at present.

I receive Freeview reception from the Blackhill Transmitter in Central Scotland via a wideband high gain TV aerial. I have retuned my TV after the 5th September 2018, but can no longer receive channels such as BBC NEWS 24 HD and other channels that were on the CH32 COM7 multiplex. Looking at the website here, it appears that COM 7 on CH32 and COM 8 on CH35 are not broadcasting after September 2018 and this seems to be confirmed in that I am now receiving zero signal strength on these channels. So where has BBC News 24 HD gone?
