I am a few miles from the Crystal Palace Transmitter. I have trouble picking up London Live, POP and KIX kid's channels as they get random pixels and at worst pccasional no signal message

Simon : Then check your system - if that mux has gone, then the rest of your system must be on the edge, even though your very close to the transmitter.

I read with interest the Crystal Palace Re-tune due 30th June 2018. However I am a little confused. Is the recommended Aerial type A / K from the retune, as shown on the How will the Crystal Palace (Greater London, England) transmission frequencies change over time?, or is it W only, as shown in Upcoming Freeview transmitter changes 2017 to 2020 ?

A lot of patrons of the Transmitter will already be set-up with A aerials, some with W and a few with K types already. Those with A or K may go to un-needed expense fitting out ready for the re-tune if W is not necessary.

(the How will the Crystal Palace (Greater London, England) transmission frequencies change over time? is above; Upcoming Freeview transmitter changes 2017 to 2020 is at Upcoming Freeview transmitter changes 2017 to 2019 )

The Highwayman:

The aerial needed for Crystal Palace reception now and after the 700MHz changes is either a Group A, or a Group K or a Wideband (W). Any of these is suitable now and will be suitable after the changes. As people using Crystal Palace will already have one of these types of aerial, there will be no need for them to change, unless the existing aerial develops a fault.

I agree with Jamie and, at first, I couldn't understand why the change was being made as it will inconvenience a lot of people and CP doesn't use any 700 MHz frequencies anyway. The reason, I realise (and I must have missed this if it has been discussed before), is that Com7 and Com8 are going to become Single Frequency Networks.

Hang on a minute! I've just looked at Brian's "Bingo card" and see that the proposed UHF channels for Com7 and Com8 are right in the middle of the 700MHz space that is to be cleared. Can someone explain, please?
