The aerial for my main TVs is tuned in to the booster at the south end of the Tay Road Bridge and has been in situ since before I occupied my home 40 years ago. When digital TVs replaced analogue TVs engineers installed a further aerial to Service another TVs in my home and tuned it into the ame transmitter. Both TVs receive only limited channels. As a number of neighbours have their aerials pointed to Craigkelly which offers a larger amount of channels I decided to try the same. I contacted two different aerial fitters by phone and when neither were in left a message stating what I hoped to do. Neither responded and I decided to turn the aerial myself. When I did so my TVs with the older aerial received only BBC 1 and BBC2 while the one with the newer aerial got good reception on the channels I previously had. Auto tuning the TVs made no difference.

C Fisken: Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters are predicted to be available to you, where you are in relation to them and predicted signal strength etc. If practical to do so, try taking the two TVs connected to the old aerial and connect them to the new aerial then run an auto tune and see if that results in your channels being restored to those TVs.

C Fisken:

It is often not just a case of moving an aerial so it points towards another transmitter as it may not cover the channels transmitted by the second transmitter. That would give the effect your are reporting.

You need, as StevensOnLn1 states, to provide a full post code so we can check what transmitters may be available at your precise location (it can vary from one side of a road to the other, hence the need for a full post code).

Further advice may be available depending on the provision of that information.

Gary: You can check the links below your question - your 17km from the transmitter. So who knows? Indoor aerials aren't all that great, but if she's high up, might do. But there are no certainties. If she's in a flat, there is often a communal system, which might be more useful.
