I have had a problem recently with not being able to record BBC4 HD. I have retuned my Panasonic HDR and checked that the software is up to date. I can play BBC 4 HD using theHDR as the tv tuner but setting recordings using the EPG recording does not start.
Can anyone help with this please?
I live in DD4 postcode

It would appear that a number of people are having the same problem in not being able to record BBC4 programmes using the EPG.
Have you tried setting the recorder manually? If it can record BBC4 manually then that would suggest a possible problem with the EPG information being broadcast.
Please also note that a partial post code never helps as it is insufficient to cause the display of the reception information at your location, only a full post code will do that.

Are you able to watch BBC1 Scotland HD, normally found on 101? If not can you confirm whether your TV and recorder are both Freeview HD capable (not just HD Ready)?
BBC4 HD is on the COM 7 multiplex which is mainly used by HD channels - see the listing near the top of this page.
My thinking is that equipment that is not truly HD capable may try to record but as it cannot decode the HD data all it does is record a blank screen with no sound. So are you able to record other channels in HD?

MikeP: My box has suddenly lost BBC4 HD - it could be that a mux change means a retune.

Alan Hume:
Hi Mike
Both the HDR and television are less than 2 years old and are fully HD. Until October (I think) I was able to record BBC4 HD. I can still record all the other HD channels but not BBC News HD which too is on COM 7.
I'll try to record Al Jazhera HD later, that on COM7. At the moment I think it's a problem with that Multiplex.

Alan Hume: I just retuned my HD box, and BBC4 HD reappeared, so it could just be that the mux move confused things.

I cannot record any channel that is on COM7 either directly or via the EPG. I have retuned.

Alan Hume: And retuning will do nothing except lose the lock on what you had...
If your missing a mux, there is probably a problem with your system.
