Anto: Do you know which transmitter you are receiving Freeview from? I think you may be getting your Freeview from the Newry South transmitter (https://ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=IJ093255) or Newry North transmitter (https://ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=IJ090284). Both of these transmitters are Freeview Light transmitters which means that they don't carry commercial stations. Both masts are public service broadcasting (PSB) transmitters and does not provide these commercial (COM) channels: 4Music, 4seven, 5 Later, 5*, 5USA, Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera HD, Challenge, Channel 5 +1, CITV, Community Channel, Dave, Dave ja vu, Drama, E4+1, Film 4 +1, Food Network, ITV 2 +1, ITV 3, ITV 3 +1, ITV 4, Movie Mix, pick, Quest, Really, RT English , Sky News, The Zone, Travel Channel, True Entertainment, VIVA, Yesterday.

If by any chance you can receive your Freeview signals from Divis do you get anything on UHF Channels 23 or 29? If you do - it is surprising that you are not receiving anything on UHF Channel 26 as they all broadcast on the same power output (50,000W).

Let me know which Freeview transmitter are you receiving your Freeview from!

Regards

Kieran (North Belfast)

Hi PJH!

Possibly it could be Kilkeel but if by chance Anto is using only one aerial and if it is pointing towards Saorview's Clermont Carn transmitter I would believe that the Newry transmitters would be more in line. Of course until Anto gets back to this forum we can only speculate!

If he gets back in touch we all may be able to advise him.

Regards

Anyone else experiencing reception issues from Divis this morning ? I have much reduced power on all channels on all receivers while one STB reports no signal on them all. I just checked that my aerials haven't fallen off the roof !

Turns out I am special again... My labgear loft amplifier died overnight. Changed its mains fuse but it is not powering up. One for the bench or bin later.

Bypassed it with a splitter for a couple of TVs and all is good again. Interestingly the only channel that needs any amplification off the back of my log periodic aerial for division is the nimm on C39 but quality is perfect despite the low strength.

I had noticed some artefacts on BBC HD channels last night - that must have been dying gasp of the labgear unit but I never gave it a second thought.

Bench tests show the input side of the transformer has burnt out for reasons unknown but it will be easy to graft on an alternative 12V power source to get my labgear unit operational again. Darned if I am paying 60-80 quid for a new one !

Back in business with repaired loft amp. It must have been slowly dying for a while cos I am now seeing perfect picture on C56 SaorView mux 2 while at launch it was abysmal.

PaulN : Although you have now rectified your problem, but purely for info purposes transformers used in boosters etc are all fitted with miniature thermal fuses strapped to the outer windings on the primary side of the transformer and are usually covered by a layer of tape.

All you might notice is a small lump under the outer covering of the primary windings.
