The symbol shows the location of the Oxford (Oxfordshire, England) transmitter which serves 410,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Like Shirley, I get unwatchable reception on ArqB (C55), but I'm in Oxford using a communal aerial system with a pretty good direct line of sight to the transmitter.
My Thompson DTR-2300 didn't have any indication of signal strength, but my new Vestel T8300 clone HD box does and shows None for signal quality and around 65% on the signal strength for ArqB. All other muxes are Good or Very Good signal quality and only SDN (C62) is below 97% strength (it is 83%).
Before the digital switchover, Mux D (C29) was fine, so we must have a wideband aerial system, but Mux2 (C68) was always very poor. On my Pace DTR730 Mux2 showed satisfactory signal quality and 1/4 signal strength. All of the other muxes were good signal quality and 2-2.5 signal strength and mostly.
My suspicion is that we now have some single frequency interference at C55 which is causing our trouble.

Mark: If you have a communal aerial system, then it quite possible that it contains an separate amplifier for each frequency used, and as C55 was not used before switchover then there will be no amplifier tuned to it.
Whoever manages the system should be able to get the equipment recalibrated to match the new broadcast parameters.

Thanks brian, your a top bloke :)
Do you think it is possible to get single from crystal palace transmitter in oxford.?
Thanks..

omar: It was possible on VHF (405-line analogue), but was poor and thus BBC had VHF 405-line services on Oxford. The UHF television signals (used for 625-line analogue and Freeview) will not reach Oxford from London or Birmingham.
The BBC covered the whole of the UK using transmitters at:
Abergavenny, Aldeburgh, Ayr South, Ballachulish, Ballycastle, Barnstaple, Bath, Belmont, Betws-y-Coed, BlaenPlwyf, Bressay, Brougher Mountain, Campbeltown, Churchdown Hill, Crystal Palace, Divis, Dolgellau, Douglas (IoM), Eastbourne, Ffestiniog, Folkestone, Girvan, Grantown Link, Hastings, Haverfordwest, Hereford, Isles of Scilly, Kendal, Kilkeel, Kilvey Hill, Kingussie, Kinlochleven, Larne, Llanddona, Llandrindod Wells, Llanelli, Llangollen, Llanidloes, Londonderry, Machynlleth, Madingley (Cambridge), Marlborough, Millburn Muir, Moel-Y-Parc, Newhaven, Newry South, North Hessary Tor, Oban, Okehampton, Oxford, Penifiler, Perth, Pitlochry, Pontop Pike, Port Ellen, Redruth, Rosemarkie, Rosneath, Rowridge, Rye, Sandale, Sheffield, Sidmouth, Skriaig (Skye), Sutton Coldfield, Tacolneston, Ventnor, Weardale, Wenvoe, Weymouth, Whitby, Whitehawk Hill and Winter Hill.
Te ITV companies had services on:
Abergavenny, Angus, Arfon, Aviemore, Bala, Ballycastle, Bath, Belmont, Black Hill, Black Mountain, Brecon, Burnhope, Caldbeck, Caradon Hill, Croydon, Dover, Durris, Emley Moor, Ffestiniog, Fremont Point, Huntshaw Cross, Lethanhill, Lichfield, Llandrindod Wells, Moel-Y-Parc, Mounteagle, Newhaven, Preseli, Ridge Hill, Rosneath, Rothesay, Rumster Forest, Sandy Heath, Selkirk, Sheffield, Stockland Hill, Strabane, Whitehaven, and Winter Hill.

I had an old TV set with a Freeview box, but replaced it with a new TV which had a built-in Freeview tuner. The box had behaved perfectly attached to my old set. My son recently returned from a work stint in Singapore and brought his large, flat-screen TV with him. It (naturally) didn't have a freeview tuner, so I gave him my old box. It now tunes in perfectly to Freeview, but every time the box is switched off it has to be rescanned. Is this problem (a) the box, (b) the TV set, or (c) some strange quirk of the Oxford transmitter from which he receives signals which was not apparent with the Hannington transmitter from which I receive signals?

Briantist: A few sites slipped through the net, notably for BBC: Kirk o'Shotts, Ashkirk, Peterborough and Les Platons (plus a number of low power relays). For ITV there were transmitters at St. Hilary, Membury and Mendlesham. All the above sites are now in use for DAB and with the exception of Kirk o'Shotts, FM radio.
