John Daly: You now need a wideband aerial to receive all the services from the Bromsgrove transmitter.

John Daly: Since you don't mention problems on Pick TV (LCN 11) or Yesterday (LCN 12), which also require a wideband aerial, I'm going to guess that you have some device interfering with C41. If you have a Sky box from which you distribute channels around your home, you will need to retune it. See Single Frequency Interference for more information.
Signal levels are also generally increased, it's possible you could now have too much signal. See Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

My PVR recordings jump on playback since switch over. Signal is very good, with roof aerial. I am only 0.5 miles from Brierley Hill transmitter.

P.R.: This could possibly be due to the PVR receiving a signal that's on the verges of being too powerful, and you should take measures to reduce this slightly by the inclusion of a simple attenuator in line with the aerial socket.
Of course another check you could make is to try a set top aerial, that is should you be in a situation whereby that would work!

I wonder if you can help me? I have had a STB since 2007 at DY13 0NS which using a vertical aerial pointing at kidderminster with a booster picked up pretty good digital until Nov last year. Generally signal was about 25% and is now 100% on BBC & ITV but still low on Dave, Yesterday and More 4, ie channel 44 and 47. I retune quite often with out asny improvement so how can I improve this and if I loose BBC with a car going by could that be the old cable?

Jonathan Pargeter:
The Kidderminster transmitter does not broadcast on UHF channels 44 and 47, so I'm guessing these are being picked up from the Bromsgrove transmitter. Kidderminster is a "Freeview Lite" transmitter and does not carry commercial multiplexes so Dave, Yesterday, etc are impossible from that transmitter. I think if your (vertically mounted) aerial was repositioned to a bearing of 76 degrees from your house, you would get all six multiplexes with ease. However, I do not know what trees/buildings may be in the way. It might be an idea to contact an installer to ask hime his advice, or perhaps talk to neighbours to compare their experiences.
Hope this helps,
Adam.

Just one more thing, you might need to change your aerial for a widebannd one, although I'm guessing that because you are so close to the Kidderminster transmitter your PSB multiplexes (BBC1, ITV1,etc) would still be picked up from Kidderminster and the COM multiplexes (Dave, etc) picked up from Bromsgrove.

I see that the BBC programmes are off air from the Kidderminster transmitter at present (from 17.23 today, 29 Feb. 2012). Where can I find an explanation why? Is the interruption temporary or permanent? Is there anything I need to do?

D A Patterson: Have you considered having an aerial pointing at Sutton Coldfield? This would give you all the Freeview channels instead of just the PSB muxes. Also , as the main transmitter for the West Midlands it is better able to provide a reliable service with its back up provision.

Currently have no signal on Freeview in Kidderminster and retuning doesn't solve this. This has happened before. Anybody heard why and long this will be for?
